Sandra Day O'Connor Submits Resignation
In a move that surprised the hell out of me Justice O'Connor submitted her resignation to President Bush.
Additionally:
I'm a bit torn on Justic O'Connor. I believe she was completely incorrect in her decision on Roe Vs. Wade by hit the nail head on with her Kelo dissent. But, for me, her Roe vs. Wade decision is far more important and I'm glad to see her go.
I suppose it looks like Bush is going to get to appoint at least two Justices before his term expires. It should be interesting.
"America is proud of Justice O’Connor’s distinguished service, and I’m proud to know her," Bush said. "She has been a discerning and conscientious judge, and a public servant of complete integrity."
Additionally:
He did not mention a potential successor for O'Connor during the brief news conference, but said he would take the responsibility to replace her "seriously" and would choose a nominee in a "timely manner," with plans to submit a nomination to the Senate for a vote before the Supreme Court's new term starts in October.
