Well, I get some free time at my new job and since it appears there's at least two people who want me to blather I'll do my best.

So, what to talk about?

Saw Narnia. Cried like a little girl.

Saw Harry Potter. Meh. Just like the previous three.

What's with that anyway? Why do people like these books so much? They're all the same! Harry gets a year older, bad things involving Voldemort happens at Hogwarts and all the adult wizards around Harry are completely inept. Why is that entertaining?

I'm reading the Chronicles of Narnia. Finished "The Magicians Nephew" and I'm halfway through "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe." They're very quick reads and seem to accomplish a lot more than the tomes that are the Potter novels.

In case you haven't noticed I think the popularity of Harry Potter is overblown. He's no Gandalf. Hell, he's no Pippin!

But, I usually talk about religion and politics so I suppose I should say something.

Bush has the legal right to wiretap foreign conversations without getting a warrant first.

I think blaming the moral decline of our society for events such as Katrina may not be without merit.

There. That should piss off some people.

A certian liberal friend of mine introduced me to a show on Cartoon Network, Justice League Unlimited. To be honest, I've always been a larger Marvel fan than DC (though I haven't read a Marvel title in years). When it came to the DC universe I defaulted to either Batman or Superman. The classics are always dependable. While in comics over all Rouge is my absolute favorite. The Rouge of the '90's. Not what they've turned her into. Jim Lee's Rouge. That's my girl!

So, Lusipher had me watch 4 episodes of JLU and it was badass. It's TV 7 but I have no idea how any kid could comprehend half the stuff going on! It's some really deep, dark stuff. Like, how would the U.S. react should a group of superheroes, answerable to no one and untouchable by anyone, lived in a orbiting superlaser pointed down at Earth? Should we simply take their word that they won't use it against us? Also, what right do these superheroes have to interfere with official government proceedings? If the government does something legal within it's own borders, but certian superheroes disagree with the morality of the action, how should the government react when those same superheroes intervien?

Anyway, watching JLU and wouldn't you frickin' know it, I got me a new favorite DC character: Black Canary. I've not seen much of her but what I have is completely sweet! For this I must thank, Lusipher. So, thanks dude. I've not been this geeked about a comic book character in a long time. Thank you for giving me someone to get excited about. When I thought comics DC and Marvel had about shriveled up and died here comes something fresh (though that's relative as she first appeared in 1947).

First, The Boss now Black Canary... Lusipher knows his damn cool characters who would instantly appeal to me.

A Russian photographer as has provided us with haunting images of abandoned structures throughout his home. There were to be many different things. Mighty industrial complexes, a children's camp, a hospital that never got a chance to cure anyone. I can understand the artist's obsession with these places. There's a timelessness to them. They speak volumes about the age from which they were born. I suppose you could call them modern ruins. We gaze in awe of the classical structures in Rome and Greece and the castles of the British Isles because they give us a glimpse into the past. This Russian artist gives us a glimpse into what our civilization will leave behind to be gazed upon hundreds of years from now. While facinating it seems less breathtaking than what the Romans, Greeks and other ancient civilizations left for us. Maybe there's a lesson in that.

NOTE: I'd trackback The Right Spin about this butthey don't have them!
